Cycling.
The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail runs the length of Haldimand's roughly 87-km Lake Erie shoreline between Norfolk County and Niagara Region, mixing paved sections with quieter shoreline secondary roads. The rural concession-road grid carries flat road and e-bike touring inland through farmland and along the Grand River between Caledonia and Dunnville.
The brief.
Haldimand's cycling is built around two patterns: the Waterfront Trail along the Lake Erie shore (lake views, mostly paved or gravel-shoulder secondary roads with regular village access at Selkirk, Lowbanks, and the Norfolk and Niagara borders), and the rural concession-road grid through farmland and along the Grand River between Caledonia and Dunnville (flat, quiet, ideal for e-bike touring). May through October is the comfortable window; Lake Erie wind exposure is real on the open-shore segments and routes can be planned to put a tailwind on the long leg.
