Paddling — Flatwater.

The Muskoka Wharf launch onto the south basin of Lake Muskoka is Gravenhurst's principal flatwater access — public dock and boat launch giving paddlers entry to the broader Muskoka Lakes navigation system. Gull Lake at Gull Lake Rotary Park gives a smaller, sheltered in-town paddle option from the same shoreline that carries the beach and splash pad.

01 — What to know

The brief.

This is shield-lake flatwater on two distinct waters. Lake Muskoka's south basin from the Wharf is open and exposed — wind across the basin can build chop quickly, and cruise-fleet and private-motor-boat traffic shares the south end.

Plan launches for calm-window mornings and stay aware of the marked navigation channel out of the Wharf. Gull Lake from Gull Lake Rotary Park is smaller and more sheltered, better suited to family paddling and SUP.

The working window is late May through October. The Muskoka Lakes navigation system extends north of Lake Muskoka into Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph for multi-day touring; reach those waters directly from Muskoka Wharf or shuttle to a closer put-in.
