Heritage & Culture.
Bethune Memorial House at 235 John Street North is the birthplace of Dr. Norman Bethune — a National Historic Site of Canada operated by Parks Canada.
At Muskoka Wharf, the Muskoka Boat & Heritage Centre houses the Grace & Speed antique boat collection alongside the RMS Segwun (the oldest operating steamship in North America) and the rest of the historic fleet. Sagamo Park on the Lake Muskoka shoreline carries the Greavette boat-works heritage interpretation.
The brief.
Two institutional heritage operators anchor the in-town stack — Parks Canada at Bethune Memorial House and the non-profit Muskoka Heritage Foundation at Muskoka Wharf. Bethune NHS runs Parks Canada's seasonal schedule (typically Victoria Day weekend through Thanksgiving), with restored Victorian-period interpretation of the doctor's birthplace and a visitor centre on-site.
The Muskoka Boat & Heritage Centre has its own seasonal hours; combined ticketing through the Muskoka Steamships site bundles cruise sailings on the historic fleet with gallery access. Sagamo Park's Greavette interpretation is open-air and free year-round.
All three sites sit within walking distance of downtown Gravenhurst.
