Paddling — Sea & Coastal.

The Gananoque Municipal Marina at 21 Bay Road sits directly opposite the central Admiralty Islands and Lake Fleet Islands clusters of Thousand Islands National Park, identified by Parks Canada as the closest mainland boat-access for those island groups. The Frontenac Arch Biosphere's nine-route Thousand Islands Paddling Trail runs from Kingston downstream to Brockville, with Gananoque on its central node — the trail's connecting corridor between its western Kingston launch and its downstream Brockville reach.

01 — What to know

The brief.

The peak Thousand Islands paddling window is June through September; July and August are the busiest months on the trail. From the Gananoque Municipal Marina, sheltered bays and granite islands open south and east into the central archipelago — but paddlers cross the same waters as the St.

Lawrence shipping channel and ferry routes, and the open-water reach toward the islands is exposed to Lake Ontario weather. Thousand Islands National Park's island campsites and paddler-access cabins lie in Leeds and the Thousand Islands township downstream; access is by boat only, and bookings and fees go through Parks Canada.

Paid parking at the Gananoque Municipal Marina runs through the HONK MOBILE app.
