Walking & Strolling.

Fort Erie's strolling product is the same waterfront and rail-trail corridor that anchors its hiking and cycling — flat, paved, easy in segments. The Niagara River Recreation Trail along the Niagara Parkway, the Bay Beach promenade in Crystal Beach, and Old Fort Erie's parade ground are the named in-town walking spots.

Walking & Strolling in Fort Erie
01 — What to know

The brief.

Segment walking is the working pattern — the Niagara River Recreation Trail and Friendship Trail are too long to walk end-to-end as casual outings, but parking pull-offs along the Niagara Parkway and trailheads along the Friendship Trail make short out-and-back walks easy. Mather Park's riverfront, Bay Beach's promenade, and Old Fort Erie's grounds are the in-town strolls suitable for a half-hour or less.

April through November is the easy-walking window; winter walks are doable when surfaces are cleared.
