Hiking.

Glebe Park's 175 acres on Head Lake hold the most accessible hiking network in the village — multi-use loops including the roughly 5-kilometre Glebe Park Loop, all reachable from the trailhead at 297 College Drive next to the Sculpture Forest. South of Haliburton, the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust's Barnum Creek Nature Reserve carries seven kilometres across three named routes through a quieter mature-maple corner of the municipality.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Glebe Park is the easiest base for visitors arriving in the village without a vehicle deep into the township: free parking at 297 College Drive, well-signed multi-use trails, and same-park access to the Sculpture Forest, Haliburton Highlands Museum, and Fleming arts campus. Barnum Creek Nature Reserve is 10 minutes' drive south at 1118 Gould Crossing Road off Gelert Road; its three trails (Heritage Hike 5 km, Waterfall Way ~0.75 km, Ridge Trail 1 km) total seven kilometres of moderate walking through marsh, swamp, mature maple, and mixedwood forest.

The Hike Haliburton Festival each September layers 40+ free guided hikes on top of the trail base, including hikes on private properties not otherwise accessible. Sir Sam's Historical Interpretive Trail and the High Falls Trail extend the named-trail list outside the village.
