01 — What to know

The brief.

The club sits on land leased from the Town of Collingwood at Millennium Park, with around 120 active members and 20 social members; reciprocal racing exchanges with Meaford and Thornbury yacht clubs structure most weekend regattas through the season. The Collingwood Invitational Regatta is the marquee June event.

Tuesday night racing begins in May and includes instruction for new racing crew. Best window for sailing in Collingwood Harbour is May through October.

The harbour basin is well-sheltered, but Nottawasaga Bay opens onto Georgian Bay with prevailing SW/W/NW winds, so sailors clearing the harbour should plan for the open-bay forecast.
