Cycling.
The Georgian Trail leaves Collingwood as a 32–34 km former rail-corridor rail-trail along the south Georgian Bay shore through Thornbury to Meaford, with the Niagara Escarpment as the inland backdrop the entire way. In town, the municipal network covers more than 60 km of mixed surface, and Collingwood is a documented node on the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail.
The brief.
The Town of Collingwood maintains over 60 km of recreational trail across granular, concrete, asphalt, wooden boardwalk, and natural surfaces, and publishes four named circuit routes for cyclists: the 4.2 km Harbour Circle, the 5.8 km East Circle, the 7.7 km West Circle, and the 20+ km Heather Pathway full-town loop. The network is non-motorized only with stated exceptions for Class 1 e-bikes and personal mobility devices; designated snowmobile use is permitted only on the Train Trail and Hamilton Drain Trail for local access.
The George Christie Nature Trails connect into the Georgian Trail at two points. Best window is May through October — the Town confirms most of the trail network is not winter-maintained, with the Georgian Trail and Harbourview Park as the named winter exceptions.
