Cross-Country & Nordic.
The Georgian Trail and Harbourview Park are the two municipally maintained winter trails inside Collingwood — the Town's trails page confirms grooming on those two and notes the rest of the network is not winter-maintained, though snowshoe and cross-country use is encouraged across it. Lake-effect snow off Georgian Bay holds the Nordic season into late March most years.
The brief.
The Georgian Trail in winter is the same Collingwood-to-Meaford rail-trail used in summer, repurposed for classic Nordic skiing along the south Georgian Bay shore with the Niagara Escarpment as backdrop. Harbourview Park gives downtown skiers a short maintained loop.
The bigger Nordic destinations of South Georgian Bay — Highlands Nordic in Clearview/Duntroon, and Scenic Caves operated by the Blue Mountains operator — sit outside Collingwood municipal boundaries. December through March is the prime window.
Snowshoeing is broadly encouraged on the rest of the municipal network; snowmobiling within Collingwood is permitted only on the Train Trail and Hamilton Drain Trail for local access.
