Nature & Discovery.
Apps' Mill Nature Centre on Whiteman's Creek is a dedicated GRCA outdoor-education facility, with school and family programming through Carolinian forest west of Paris. Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area's three loop trails wrap Carolinian birding habitat around a kettle lake near St.
George, and Brant Conservation Area adds riparian and floodplain birding on the Grand River south of Paris. The County's nature work is interpretation-led and forest-focused.
The brief.
Three GRCA-managed properties carry the County's nature and birding product. Apps' Mill is the dedicated outdoor-education centre, with no admission fee and seasonal programming hours; school groups and families anchor its use.
Pinehurst Lake's Carolinian forest loops are best in spring and fall migration — May and September peak — with songbirds, woodpeckers, and forest raptors through the kettle-lake forest. Brant CA's Grand River floodplain adds riparian birding and waterfowl on the river itself.
Best season is April through October for full programming and migration; fall colours layer onto the same trails in early-to-mid October. There is no formal IBA or migration-corridor designation inside the County — the product is forest-and-river birding rather than a mass-migration spectacle.
