Hiking in Brant
01 — What to know

The brief.

The County's hiking is day-hike scale on relatively flat to rolling terrain. Three GRCA-managed properties carry the trail system: Brant Conservation Area on the Grand south of Paris, Pinehurst Lake near St.

George, and Apps' Mill on Whiteman's Creek. Each charges a GRCA day-use fee in season; campgrounds at Brant CA (group sites) and Pinehurst Lake (frontcountry) require GRCA bookings.

The Grand Valley Trail is a long-distance route stewarded by the Grand Valley Trails Association — its Brant section runs through the same corridor the GRCA properties anchor. Best season is May through October, with fall colours peaking in the Carolinian woodlots in early-to-mid October.

Pinehurst Lake and Brant CA stay open for snowshoeing through winter.
