Swimming & Beach.
Bayfield Pier Beach sits beside the Bluewater Marina at the mouth of the Bayfield River — drive-up access, parking, washrooms, a life-saving station, and direct entry onto the Lake Huron sand. Pioneer Park on the bluff immediately above brings the same beach into a sunset-watching frame, with roughly 100 stairs from the bluff down to the water.
The brief.
All four named Bayfield beaches are tested weekly for water quality mid-June through August by Huron Perth Public Health. Bayfield Pier Beach is the easiest access — drive-up, washrooms, life-saving station.
Howard Street, Pavilion Road, and Hay Township beaches are more residential in character: Pavilion Road has a pavilion, washrooms, and a playground; Hay Township is a bluff lookout with a stair descent. Stair access varies seasonally with weather, lake-level fluctuation, and shoreline erosion — Lake Huron has had significant erosion years recently.
The lake-swim window is roughly late June through early September; water temperatures lag the air calendar.
