Cross-Country & Nordic.
The Frost Centre Ski Trails run 22 km of classic cross-country in nine stacked loops from 1.2 to 6.5 km, with named loops Fox, Bunny, Beaver, Otterslide, Deer, Moose, and Marten covering beginner through expert. The trailhead sits at 20130 Highway 35 N on the former Frost Centre education site, the same address as the Algonquin Highlands Trails Office.
Reliable Canadian Shield snow cover holds the season together from mid-December into early March.
The brief.
The 22 km network is groomed for classic — skate-skiing isn't the primary discipline here. Loops stack from short and easy (Bunny) to longer and more technical (Marten), so families and stronger skiers can share the same trailhead.
Backcountry XC opens up on frozen lakes once cover sets, using the Haliburton Highlands Water Trails portage network as the connection between lake systems. The Trails Office (705-766-9033 / trails@algonquinhighlands.ca) is the practical contact for grooming conditions before driving up.
Mid-December through early March is the working window.
