Hot air balloon rides in nine Canadian cities, flown under Transport Canada standards by a Belmont, Ontario manufacturer

Sundance Balloons
01 — About

The brief.

Sundance Balloons is a commercial hot air balloon operator headquartered at 48 Crampton Drive in Belmont, Ontario, where it also manufactures its own balloons. Flights run in nine Canadian markets — Toronto Area (Kitchener), Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg — though the Grande Prairie and Saskatoon regions are not currently selling new vouchers. Operations follow Transport Canada's safety standards for passenger-carrying commercial balloon flights, and pilots hold a minimum of fifty hours of flight experience. The season runs May to October in Ontario and tightens to May–September in Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg, with morning departures meeting before sunrise and evening departures meeting two to three hours before sunset. A typical flight lasts about an hour; the full experience runs three to four hours including van transport.

3. ways in.

  1. 01

    Weekday Morning Flight

For: Ages 8 and up, in good physical condition, able to stand for the full flightWhen: May to October (Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg seasons end in September); Mon–Fri AM departures meeting before sunrise

The lowest-tier voucher. Departures gather before sunrise on Monday-through-Friday flights, with seven to eleven passengers per basket and van transport to and from launch and landing sites included. The pilot picks the launch site on flight day from a fixed regional list — Waterloo Rod & Gun Club or Concordia Club in the Kitchener-Waterloo region, for example — based on weather and wind. Vouchers are non-refundable but transferable, and roll to the following spring if weather grounds a flight.

$250 per person (1–3 vouchers) or $240 per person (4+) in Toronto Area, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg; Calgary $300 per person (1–3) or $290 per person (4+). All prices CAD, exclude HST/GST. Regular $325 (Calgary $375); current price reflects a "SAVE $75" Mother's Day sale.

  2. 02

    Weekday Evening Flight

For: Ages 8 and up, in good physical condition, able to stand for the full flightWhen: May to October (Edmonton and Winnipeg end in September); Mon–Thu PM departures meeting two to three hours before sunset. Not offered in Calgary.

A sunset slot for Monday-through-Thursday departures, meeting two to three hours before sunset and landing in evening light. Same shared seven-to-eleven-passenger basket and same van transport as the morning flight. October sunset bookings shift the flight-status callback time earlier — passengers call the regional flight-status line after 1:15pm on flight day rather than 2:15pm — to accommodate shorter daylight.

$300 per person (1–3 vouchers) or $290 per person (4+) in Toronto Area, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. CAD, excludes HST/GST. Regular $375; current price reflects a "SAVE $75" Mother's Day sale.

  3. 03

    Anytime Flight

For: Ages 8 and up, in good physical condition, able to stand for the full flightWhen: May to October (Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg end in September); Mon–Sun, AM or PM

The most flexible voucher — bookable any morning or evening, any day of the week. Same flight format as the other tiers: roughly an hour aloft, three to four hours door-to-door, shared basket, van transport included. The price premium over the weekday tiers buys the right to book a Saturday or Sunday departure, the busiest slots in a season that's weather-constrained from both ends.

$320 per person (1–3 vouchers) or $310 per person (4+) in Toronto Area, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg; in Calgary the equivalent product is the Weekend Morning Flight at $320 (1–3) or $310 (4+). CAD, excludes HST/GST. Regular $395; current price reflects a "SAVE $75" Mother's Day sale.
