Snow Adventure.

The OFSC A Trail runs north through Temagami with a feeder trail reaching the Caribou Mountain Fire Tower viewing platform, putting the region on the documented Nipissing District snowmobile network. The same trail base supports winter snowshoeing through the White Bear Forest's old-growth red and white pine, with the Friends of Temagami's old-growth-trail partnership steward of the underlying summer trail network.

01 — What to know

The brief.

An OFSC trail permit (annual or weekly) is required across the snowmobile network and can be purchased locally or through OFSC online. The Caribou Mountain Fire Tower itself is closed for winter climbing for safety, but visitors can still hike or sled to the chalet and the lower viewing platforms remain open.

White Bear Forest's 17 km of summer trails extend into winter as snowshoe routes through old-growth pine — a quieter alternative to the snowmobile-busy A Trail corridor. Best window is January through March.

Ice conditions on Lake Temagami can be variable in shoulder months given the lake's depth (max ~110 m); cross-reference local conditions before crossing inland-lake routes on snowmobile.
