Mountain Biking.

The Ganaraska Forest carries an IMBA EPIC ride designation — an International Mountain Biking Association credential awarded to long, scenic, technically interesting backcountry routes. North of Port Hope, the 4,000-hectare Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority property holds over 100 trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding across Central, East, and West forest blocks, with hundreds of kilometres of singletrack and forest road through mixed forest.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Day passes or Ganaraska Forest memberships are required to ride the forest. The Forest Centre area carries the most-marked, most-trafficked routes; East and West blocks add wilder singletrack.

The IMBA EPIC ride is a route designation through the Forest rather than a single named trail. Trail surface and difficulty vary widely — the same network supports hike, MTB, and horseback use, so multi-use etiquette applies (slower users have right of way; horses always have right of way).

The forest is rideable May through October; in winter, the same network shifts to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
