Freshwater Fishing.
Lake Ontario off Oakville sits in Fisheries Management Zone 20 — open-water and shore access at Coronation Park, Oakville Harbour, and Bronte Harbour for smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye, lake trout, and Atlantic salmon under FMZ 20 seasons. Sixteen Mile Creek and Bronte Creek both fall in FMZ 16; their lower reaches are stocked annually by MNRF with chinook salmon and rainbow trout (steelhead).
The brief.
The two creeks are the Oakville fishing flagship — fall chinook runs roughly September through November (peak October), spring steelhead/rainbow trout runs roughly March through May. Lions Valley Park along Sixteen Mile Creek and the Bronte Creek lower-park trails (inside Bronte Creek Provincial Park and at Bronte Harbour) give creek-side access during the runs.
Lake Ontario shore fishing from Oakville Harbour, Bronte Harbour, and Coronation Park reaches FMZ 20's bass, walleye, lake trout, and Atlantic salmon. An Ontario fishing licence is required (Outdoors Card + Fishing Licence Tag); FMZ-specific seasons, sanctuaries, and slot limits apply.
The lower creek reaches inside the FMZ 16 boundary use FMZ 16 rules; the lake itself uses FMZ 20.
