Hiking.

Snowdon Park is the largest single hiking destination in Minden Hills — 460 acres at the South Lake / Gelert Roads intersection, with about 3 km of trail through mixed forest, wetland boardwalks, and accessible sections. Year-round access sets it apart from the rest of the township network, which closes mid-October to mid-May.

From the village core, the ~1 km Minden Riverwalk and ~0.4 km Boardwalk hold the Gull River corridor; Harrington, Panorama, Furnace Falls, and Lutterworth parks anchor the township's smaller named trails.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Township parks operate mid-May through mid-October each year, with Snowdon Park as the year-round exception. The Riverwalk and Boardwalk sit in the village proper at the Cultural Centre and along Water Street / Invergordon Avenue — both accessible, both short, both designed for foot traffic from the village core.

Harrington Park's ~0.5 km loop on Horseshoe Lake Road delivers a rapids overlook that pairs with a stop at the Whitewater Preserve farther up the same road. Panorama Park's overlook is best in fall colour.

Furnace Falls Park on County Road 503 sits beside the Irondale River; Lutterworth Park is upstream of a dam at Moore's Falls. Long-distance hikers can pick up the Ganaraska Trail through township sections including Sheldon Lake and Anson Mountain.
