Swimming & Beach.
Two distinct sandy Lake Erie beaches anchor Leamington swimming: West Beach inside Point Pelee National Park, on the same shoreline that doubles as the park's Dark Sky Preserve viewing platform, and Seacliff Beach on the municipal waterfront, with eight hectares of Seacliff Park around it and an accessible mobility mat extending to the water's edge.
The brief.
Inside Point Pelee, swimming is freshwater Lake Erie on a beach ridge that has built up over millennia at the southern tip of the peninsula — water tends to be warm by August, and the same beaches transition to dark-sky observation after sunset. Outside the park, Seacliff Beach at the foot of Seacliff Park is a full-service municipal beach: accessible boardwalk, mobility mat to the water, beach-volleyball courts, washrooms, picnic shelter with barbecue, the tomato-themed splash pad, and basketball courts; it connects directly by boardwalk to the Leamington Marina.
Best season is June through August; both beaches stay walkable into shoulder season but swimming is summer-only.
