Hiking.

Limehouse Conservation Area is the closest most GTA hikers get to walking *through* the Niagara Escarpment rather than along it. The Bruce Trail squeezes between two limestone walls at the Hole in the Wall crevice, climbs past the 1860s lime kilns ruins, and continues north toward Silver Creek's escarpment crevices and the mature hardwood forest at Terra Cotta.

Hiking in Halton Hills
01 — What to know

The brief.

The Bruce Trail Toronto Section threads three Credit Valley Conservation areas inside Halton Hills — Limehouse, Silver Creek, and Terra Cotta — each open year-round with per-vehicle entry fees. The escarpment terrain is rocky and uneven near the crevices at Limehouse and Silver Creek; sturdy footwear is the norm.

May through October is the easiest window; late September through mid-October peaks for fall colour on the escarpment hardwoods. Conservation Halton's Hilton Falls Conservation Area, on the town's southern boundary with Milton, adds a waterfall side trail to the network — note that Hilton Falls itself is administered by Conservation Halton in the Town of Milton.

The Bruce Trail Conservancy publishes section maps for the Toronto Section.
