Sailing & Boating.

Erieau Marina sits on the peninsula between Lake Erie and Rondeau Bay with 100 guest docks, three launch ramps, and dockage for power and sail to 100 ft and 12 ft draft — the home harbour of the Erieau Yacht Club. North across the municipality, Mitchell's Bay opens onto Lake St.

Clair with public launches into one of Canada's most-fished warmwater systems. Two distinct sailing waters anchor the Chatham-Kent boating scene.

01 — What to know

The brief.

Erieau is the deeper-water sailing anchor — the marina handles transient slips, fuel, and seasonal storage; the Yacht Club organizes the local sailing calendar. Lake Erie is open and exposed; storms can move quickly and small-craft routings should track the marine forecast.

Mitchell's Bay is a Lake St. Clair fishery launch as much as a sailing launch — the bay is shallow, sheltered, and trafficked with fishing boats.

Both boating waters fall under Ontario fishing licensing if a rod's in the boat (FMZ 19); navigation aids and harbour reporting follow Transport Canada / Canadian Coast Guard standards. Sailing season runs May through October.
